Christmas Prayer

Two young boys were spending the night at their grandparents. At bedtime, the two boys knelt beside their beds to say their prayers when the youngest one began praying at the top of his lungs: "I PRAY FOR A NEW BICYCLE...I PRAY FOR A NEW NINTENDO... I PRAY FOR A NEW VCR..."

His older brother leaned over and nudged the younger brother and said, "Why are you shouting your prayers? God isn't deaf."

To which the little brother replied, "No, but Gramma is!"

Christmas Releases

Several years ago, one Christmas song, “Waking Up On Christmas Morning,” was released on an assorted artists CD entitled “Christmas Rocks!” and I really liked the song. That particular song is included on the current release, “Christmas With The Smithereens”

Christmas Decorations

Christmas is incomplete without decorations. Christmas decorations are a fun and festive part of the holiday season.

Christmas Stars

One of the most important and famous symbols of Christmas is the Christmas Star. The Star of Christmas has been part of human imagination for the past 2000 years. You can find this star atop Christmas trees, cards, cribs and in homes and streets during the Christmas season. The star is not only an ornament but is also a symbol of hope and happiness. As you decorate your homes and trees, think about the sparkling star which led the magi to baby Jesus. In the Bible, the Gospel of Matthew tells us about the Christmas Star and the birth of Jesus.

Christmas Crib

The crib should be a cherished part of the Christmas celebration in every family. It is not only completely religious in significance but also presents to the children in a beautiful way the central event which we commemorate on this great feast. Thus it assumes the character of a religious shrine in the houses of the faithful during Christmas season. It should be placed in an honored position, on the table or some other support, not too high for the children to see it easily. Dignified decoration might enhance its attraction and solemnity.

A Christmas carol (also called a noël) is a carol (song or hymn) whose lyrics are on the theme of Christmas, or the winter season in general and which are traditionally sung in the period before Christmas and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Christmas Cakes...

Semolina and Yogurt Cake
Ingredients:

1/2 c blanched, toasted almonds
2/3 c plain yogourt
2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, melted
1/2 c sugar
1 1/4 c semolina flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla

Syrup:
1 c + 2 Tblsp sugar
2/3 c water
2 Tblsp lemon juice

Direction:
Preheat oven to 400F. Grease and flour a round baking pan, about 8 inches in diameter. Prepare the syrup by placing all the ingredients in a small pan
and bringing slowly to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes or until the syrup forms a sticky film on the back of a spoon. Set aside to cool. Chop the almonds finely. Pour the yogurt into a bowl, add half
the melted butter, sugar, semolina, baking powder, vanilla and almonds. Mix thoroughly until well blended. Pour the batter into the cake pan and smooth over the surface with the back of a spoon.
Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the surface of the cake is golden. Remove from the oven and pour the cold syrup evenly over it. Cut into lozenge shapes and return to the oven for 3-4 more minutes. Warm with remaining butter. Remove the basbousa from the oven and pour the butter evenly over the surface. Leave to cool.

Santa Claus

Santa Claus, that jolly, rotund bringer of prenets,is a controversial Christmas tradition for mothers and fathers.though he is clearly a character from folklore, many parents go through great lenght to keep alive their child's belief in Santa Claus.the character of Santa Claus,as he is depicted today,is derived from two very old legends:Saint Nicholas,a bishop who gave generou gifts to the poor and was considered to be the patron saint of sailors and children and
Father Christmas, who was considered to be the spirit of good cheer....

The Theology of Santa
Santa, as taught to most children, has most of the attributes of God:

He is virtually omnipresent. He can visit hundreds of millions of homes in one night.
He is omniscient. He monitors each child; he is all-seeing and all-knowing; he knows when they are bad and good.
Although not omnipotent, he does have great powers. He can manufacture gifts for hundreds of millions of children, and deliver them in one night -- each to the correct child.
He is all-good and all-just. He judges which children have shown good behavior and rewards them appropriately. Bad children are bypassed or receive a lump of coal.
He is eternal.
He rewards good and punishes bad behavior.

Christmas Tree

The Vatican's tallest Christmas tree is twinkling in St. Peter's Square.
The Christmas tree is a Mandela, a bundle of symbols showing what creation has to offer: light and the movement of angels, the gifts of orchard and field, forest and sea, all topped off by the star that pointed to the end of the journey, the place of peace.
